Emergency response to vulnerable refugees in Balqa, Jordan

Emissa in parternship with Maydan team has managed to deliver emergecny assistance to Syrians refugees who live in Balqa, Jordan.The majority of refugees in Jordan live in urban areas and in poverty: over 80% live below the poverty line. 51% of refugees are children, and 4% are elderly. Nowadays, temperatures are dropping in Jordan, the refugee families with their children are struggling to survive. They huddle under thin blankets to stay warm, vulnerable to frostbite and hypothermia. Some are forced to go outside in only t-shirts and sandals.
The intervention included distribution of  winterization items such as blankets, mats, mattresses, and thermal burners to vulnerable families. The main activity included in-kind one-off distributions for full winterization kits (for 80 households).
